IMM COLOGNE 2010 REPORT |

Once again the trade show season starts off with the 45th annual IMM Cologne. From last January 19th to 24th, some 100,000 visitors, a similar figure to the last year’s turnout, came to the annual event to get to know, firsthand, the latest trends in furniture and decoration. So, the outcome of this year’s trade show was quite positive.
In addition, during the trade show, the city hosts the event “Passagen” where renowned designers and companies display their objects and ideas along this “design route”. |
| This year, there were no new trends in melamine designs, and so we find ourselves with a continuity of trends from previous years. |

As far as colours go, WHITE still predominates, although to a lesser extent. German manufacturers chose to introduce wood, both for home furnishings and for kitchens and offices.
Where we do see changes is in finishings: white and / or black lacquered textures don’t always appear in high gloss, but, rather, matt finishings start to gain ground. At times, one piece of furniture combines both types of finishings. |
| |
The colour palette we were able to notice is limited to the so-called sand and grey tones, the CHOCOLATE ppears quite frequently, as well as a brownish pink colour..

|
| |
The colour touch can be seen in kitchens or bathrooms, two much riskier sectors where the new trends have greater acceptance. Here we were able to see the palette of MORADO (purples) – ARANDANO (blueberries), colours that were the trend throughout all of 2009./span>
The maroon reds, oranges, yellows and an outstanding new blue from the last edition of the Milan trade show appeared in small details, almost always combined with white or with wood, or simply in decorative elements: walls, carpets, chairs, etc.
|

|
| |
| Fantasies weren’t exceedingly visible, either, as floral themes were once again adopted, such as our WHITE GARDEN, GARDEN and BOLBORETA, and details in PAN DE ORO, PAN DE PLATA and PAN DE BRONCE still appear on a rather small scale. |
 |
| |
| As far as wood is concerned, IMM allowed us to get to know the trends of the Central European market, and, in this regard, we must say that we do not find any major differences from what has been seen in past annual events. |

We could say that ash-wood stands out as a novelty and starts to gain ground. We can see it in light and natural tones, although at times it also appears with quite a bit of contrast. |
 |
| |
| The stars were undoubtedly the well-known plums or highly contrasted fruit trees and with whiteness, such as RICHMOND PLUM, wild beeches and XACOBEO CHERRY, as they cover halls, bedrooms, offices, bathrooms or kitchens. |
 |
| |
| Walnut wood is also common but it’s an aggressive oak in a dark, chocolate colour, with half or full crowns, and at times with some whiteness. |
 |
| |
| Exotic designs such as LUXURY EBONY or SATIN OLIVE keep appearing in the booths of German manufacturers. |
 |
| |

Highly contrasted designs stand out, where the important thing is colour and not structure. Chocolate tones with touches of violet, such as our FRESNO TEA, fit in perfectly. |
| |
In general, lines are clear, as rounded shapes appear only in kitchens and bathrooms, very seldom in home furniture.
As far as materials go, we see an increasingly common use of glass, and marble once again appears both in dining tables and in night tables or support furniture. |

The DM COMPAC can also be seen in some applications, such as in this dining table, where the black edge can also be seen. |
